Update on Weather: Light Showers in Delhi-NCR, Further Rainfall Expected, Says IMD

Delhi-NCR receives light rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported light to moderate rainfall in Delhi and its adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) on a chilly Saturday morning, with the mercury dropping to 15 degrees Celsius. The weather bureau forecasts additional showers to persist across the region throughout the day.

Delhi is anticipated to experience a predominantly overcast sky with chances of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by brisk winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h, according to the IMD. The forecast also mentions a potential for hailstorms in isolated spots.

Over the upcoming four days, the temperature is expected to fluctuate, with highs around 27.4 degrees Celsius and lows near 13.4 degrees Celsius.

The IMD had earlier predicted a high chance of rainfall across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, along with parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from March 1 to 3.

It’s also forecasted that areas like Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will experience rain and snow until March 3.

While some regions of India might receive less than the usual rainfall levels, the Western Himalayas and southern Peninsula are projected to witness almost normal precipitation during the second week of March. Furthermore, a noticeable increase in the maximum temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected over the same period, particularly in southern peninsular India, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
