In the ongoing Test match between India and England in Rajkot, Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved a significant milestone by securing his 500th wicket. This accomplishment follows his 499-wicket mark at the conclusion of the second Test in Vizag. On the second day of the third Test, Ashwin reached the historic figure by dismissing Zak Crawley.

Ashwin now shares the distinction with Anil Kumble as the sole Indian bowlers to surpass the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket, placing him among the top nine bowlers globally to achieve this remarkable feat. Among the esteemed spinners in Test history, he stands alongside Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Nathan Lyon.

Notably, Ashwin becomes the second-fastest player in Test history to reach 500 wickets, achieving this milestone in just 98 Test matches. This is a notable contrast to the more than 100 Test matches it took for the other seven bowlers who reached the 500-wicket milestone.

Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin’s colleague, added a touch of humor by joking about Ashwin’s “destiny” to reach this milestone at Jadeja’s home ground in Rajkot.
