Adding to the excitement, India becomes the first market to see the debut of right-hand drive versions of these EVs, ahead of other global markets. These vehicles will be locally assembled at VinFast’s under-construction manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, underlining the brand’s commitment to making India a strategic hub for EV production.

The move comes just weeks after Tesla finally made its India debut with the launch of the Model Y, priced from ₹59.89 lakh. Tesla’s first experience centre opened in Mumbai, with vehicles imported fully built from its Shanghai factory.

With VinFast building locally and Tesla shipping in, the Indian EV market is quickly turning into a battlefield for global electric giants and Indian consumers are the ultimate winners.
