Maurya Leaves Samajwadi Party, Cites Unaddressed Concerns

Swami Prasad Maurya quits SP

Swami Prasad Maurya Exits Akhilesh Yadav’s Party, Resigns from Legislative Role

Swami Prasad Maurya has tendered his resignation from the Samajwadi Party and relinquished his seat in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. This development occurred a week subsequent to his departure from the role of national general secretary within the party. In a letter directed to Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, Maurya expressed appreciation for the chance to collaborate but pointed out the absence of follow-up discussions after his resignation as national general secretary on February 13, leading to his decision to leave the party.

Moreover, in a communication to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council’s chairman, Maurya stated his resignation as a council member, attributing his decision to ethical reasons stemming from his exit from the party’s primary membership. He also took to social media to publicize these correspondences.

His decision to resign as the national general secretary earlier, on February 13, came after making controversial statements regarding the Ayodhya temple and the Ramcharitmanas, which he said resulted in discrimination against him and a lack of backing from the Samajwadi Party, particularly from Akhilesh Yadav.
