A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his four-year-old stepson through severe physical torture in Thane city, Maharashtra, an official reported. The accused, Dilshad, was detained late Monday night, and a murder case under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Chitalsar police station.

The child’s mother had married Dilshad after separating from her first husband. She brought her young son, Mohammad Aryan, from Kolkata a few weeks ago.

According to the police, Dilshad was reportedly unaware of the child from his wife’s previous marriage until she brought him to Thane, which caused tension between the couple. Dilshad was unhappy with the child’s presence and also, he didn’t want to take responsibility of that kid.
Initially, the police registered a case of accidental death after the child’s demise on Sunday. However, the autopsy report revealed that the child had suffered severe physical abuse, including multiple broken ribs and bones and internal abdominal injuries. Consequently, a murder case was registered.
