Jasprit Bumrah Set to Miss Ranchi Test

Spectators might not see Jasprit Bumrah in action during the fourth Test Match in Ranchi. With a series lead of 2-1 against England, India is expected to give a break to Jasprit Bumrah, the team’s vice-captain and key bowler.

Jasprit Bumrah, who made a comeback after an 11-month hiatus due to a back injury last August, has been under meticulous observation by the Indian cricket team management. Since his return, he has been chosen exclusively for Test matches, featuring in the series against South Africa and the ongoing one against England.

In view of the imminent IPL and T20 World Cup, Bumrah is set to be rested for the Ranchi match next week, contrary to the initial plan of resting him for the Rajkot Test. He will be taking a break of almost twenty days before returning for the final match of the series in Dharamsala, starting on March 7. Bumrah has bowled over 80 overs in the current series, with spells of 8.3, 16.1, 15.5, 17.2, 15, and 8 across six innings.

If the pitch for the Ranchi match favors spinners, Bumrah’s spot might be taken by Mukesh Kumar or an additional spin bowler. Mukesh, who was not selected for the third Test, recently claimed ten wickets in a Ranji Trophy game for Bengal against Bihar, proving his form with significant hauls in both innings.

Mohammed Siraj, another regular player for India in recent times, was also rested for the second Test of the series.
