Battling a prolonged illness, Soren had been undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for over a month and had remained in critical condition in his final days.

The news of his passing was confirmed by his son and current Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who shared a heartfelt tribute on social media platform X.
“Beloved Dishom Guruji has left us. I am left with nothing,” he wrote, invoking the affectionate title by which Shibu Soren was revered among tribal communities.

Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the nation in mourning.
“Shibu Soren Ji was a grassroots leader who rose through the ranks with unwavering commitment to the people. He was deeply passionate about uplifting tribal communities, the poor, and the marginalized. Pained by his passing. I have spoken to CM Hemant Soren to extend my condolences,” PM Modi posted on X.
