In her biography “Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl,” Hema recalled that she was quite nervous before meeting Satwant Kaur for the first time, but the experience turned out to be a positive one. Hema wrote, “Dharam ji’s mother was equally kind. I remember when I was pregnant and expecting my elder daughter Esha, she came to meet me at the dubbing studio in Juhu. She hadn’t informed anyone at home about the visit. I touched her feet, and she hugged me and said, ‘Betaa, khush raho hamesha’ (Child, may you always stay happy). I was glad she was happy with me.”

Hema also emphasized in her book that she has always respected Dharmendra’s first wife, Prakash Kaur, and so do her daughters. She wrote, “I’ve never spoken publicly about Prakash, but I respect her a lot. Even my daughters have immense respect for Dharmendra ji’s family. The world wants to know every detail about my life, but some things aren’t meant to be shared with everyone.”
