Local residents attempted to douse the flames, but it was only after the fire department arrived that the blaze could be brought under control. The shop owner suffered losses amounting to lakhs of rupees.

The incident took place in Maharajganj Nagar Panchayat at around 12:25 AM in a clothing store named Royal Collection. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, becoming uncontrollable. Despite their efforts, local residents could not extinguish the flames due to their intensity. Subsequently, two fire department vehicles arrived at the scene and began firefighting operations. After hours of hard work, the fire was finally brought under control.

All the clothes and other goods inside the store were completely destroyed in the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. According to Banarsidas, an officer from the fire department, the store did not have fire safety equipment as per standard guidelines, which made controlling the fire even more challenging. He further pointed out that the same issue persists across most small and large shops in Maharajganj.

The fire department official stated that despite multiple instructions and awareness campaigns conducted by the department, shop owners and locals remain negligent about installing fire safety equipment. The swift action by the fire department and the help of locals prevented the fire from spreading further, averting any casualties. However, the negligence regarding fire safety could have led to a major disaster.

Severe Damage to the Shop and Nearby Buildings

The shop owner reported that, in addition to the destruction of goods, the three-story building suffered severe damage. Nearby shops were also affected by the fire. Initial investigations suggest that the fire might have been caused by a short circuit.
