In a distressing instance of cruelty towards animals, an offender has reportedly shot and killed a stray dog in Jabalpur, located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The reprehensible act came to light on February 26, with the incident being reported at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station, situated within the vicinity of Jabalpur’s Badda Dada Ground in the Dhanvantari Nagar area.
The case came to the fore following a complaint lodged by Anita Sharma, who heads a local non-profit organization, against an unidentified individual at the Dhanvantari Nagar police outpost on the preceding Friday. This prompted the local law enforcement to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter. A necropsy was conducted on the deceased canine to determine the exact cause of death.
The community was shocked to learn about the dog’s plight on February 26, culminating in a dramatic event at Badda Dada Maidan. Sharma, in her attempt to save the dog, rushed the severely ill animal to a veterinary clinic for urgent care. Due to the dog’s worsening condition, the veterinarians performed an X-ray, which unveiled a bullet within the animal’s abdomen.
Sharma recounted her efforts over approximately a week at Badda Dada Ground, caring for the dog that eventually fell into a state of unconsciousness. Upon her next visit, she transported the dog to a vet, where it was declared dead following an examination. Vikrant Pathak, the officer in charge at the Dhanvantari Nagar outpost, confirmed that a formal complaint by Anita Sharma has led to the filing of a case. The police are now conducting an exhaustive investigation to uncover the details surrounding this heinous act of animal cruelty.
