The man, Surya, a 24-year-old painter, died from his injuries. This incident happened less than a month after another high-profile car accident in Pune.

On Monday night, Madhuri was driving the BMW with a female friend. They allegedly ran over Surya, who was sleeping on the pavement in an inebriated state in Besant Nagar. After the accident, Madhuri’s friend got out of the car and argued with the crowd that gathered. She left after some time. Some people in the crowd took Surya to the hospital, but he did not survive.

Surya had been married for just eight months. His relatives and neighbors went to the J-5 Shastri Nagar Police Station, demanding justice. When the police checked the CCTV footage, they saw that the car belonged to the BMR (Beeda Masthan Rao) Group and was registered in Puducherry. Madhuri was arrested but was granted bail at the police station.
