On February 7, Ashita suffered a sudden brain stroke. Her family rushed her to the hospital immediately. She was in the eighth month of her pregnancy and was due to give birth in a few weeks. However, due to severe brain damage, doctors had to perform an emergency C-section to deliver the baby prematurely. After birth, the baby was placed in the ICU on ventilator support. According to a report by TOI, Ashita was declared brain-dead on February 13.

After Ashita was declared brain-dead, doctors approached her family regarding organ donation. Her family agreed to donate her kidneys, liver, and corneas, giving new life to several patients in need.

Speaking to TOI, Ashita’s father-in-law shared that after the stroke, she was taken to Artemis Hospital, where she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was placed on ventilator support, and an emergency C-section was performed to deliver the baby.
