In the ongoing Test match between India and England in Rajkot, Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved a significant milestone by securing his 500th wicket. This accomplishment follows his 499-wicket mark at the conclusion of the second Test in Vizag. On the second day of the third Test, Ashwin reached the historic figure by dismissing Zak Crawley.

Ashwin now shares the distinction with Anil Kumble as the sole Indian bowlers to surpass the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket, placing him among the top nine bowlers globally to achieve this remarkable feat. Among the esteemed spinners in Test history, he stands alongside Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Nathan Lyon.

Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin’s colleague, added a touch of humor by joking about Ashwin’s “destiny” to reach this milestone at Jadeja’s home ground in Rajkot.
