As soon as India sealed the win, celebrations erupted across the country. Fans took to the streets with drums and fireworks, rejoicing in the team’s success. Social media was flooded with praise for the Indian squad, especially for Virat Kohli’s outstanding innings. However, amid all the celebrations, another name started trending rapidly on social media—’IITian Baba’ (Abhay Singh).

While India was busy celebrating, ‘IITian Baba,’ an IIT Mumbai graduate who gained fame during the Kumbh Mela, became the center of social media discussions. In a podcast, he had predicted that India would not win this match.

He had confidently stated, “India will not win this time. Tell Virat Kohli and the entire team to try their best, but they won’t be able to win. If I have said that India won’t win, then they won’t win.” However, his prediction turned out to be completely wrong, as India dominated the match, with Kohli scoring a century—his 82nd overall and 51st in ODIs.

Following India’s victory, social media was flooded with memes and humorous posts trolling ‘IITian Baba.’ Many users mocked him, suggesting that he should stop making predictions, while others even demanded that podcasts should stop inviting him. MBA Chaiwala founder Prafull Billore also joined the fun, posting a hilarious update in which he “resigned” from the title of ‘Panauti’ (bad luck), humorously passing it on to ‘IITian Baba.’

As criticism continued to pour in, ‘IITian Baba’ eventually took to X formerly Twitter to apologize. Sharing pictures of Kohli and Team India celebrating, he wrote, “I apologize to everyone and urge you all to enjoy the celebrations. It’s party time! Deep down, I always knew India would win.”

However, his statement was not taken seriously by social media users, who advised him to refrain from making predictions in the future. Many even shared the final scene from the movie 3 Idiots, where Chatur claims he always knew Rancho would succeed, and Rancho and his friends respond with a smile, saying, “He’s lying.”
