Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received multiple death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This stems from Salman’s alleged involvement in the killing of a blackbuck in 1998, a species considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. Although Salman has denied the allegations, Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin recently claimed in an interview that the actor had attempted to resolve the matter years ago with a “blank check.”
In a recent interview with NDTV, Ramesh Bishnoi spoke about the conflict between Salman and Lawrence. He alleged that when the blackbuck case gained attention and the Bishnoi community condemned Salman, the actor had offered them money as compensation. Ramesh claimed that Salman arrived with a blank check book and asked community leaders to fill in whatever amount they desired in exchange for settling the case. He stated, “If we were after money, we would have accepted it.”
Salman’s father, Salim Khan, has accused Lawrence Bishnoi of targeting Salman for financial gain. However, Ramesh Bishnoi responded that the issue is not about money but rather ideology. He mentioned, “We were outraged at that time,” and emphasized that Lawrence owns 110 acres of land in India and is wealthy enough to not resort to extortion.

The incident of blackbuck poaching occurred in 1998 in Jodhpur, where Salman was filming “Hum Saath-Saath Hain.” He was accompanied by co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari. This case has been ongoing for 25 years, and after being convicted, Salman is currently out on bail. The Bishnoi community has repeatedly demanded an apology from Salman for his actions. Meanwhile, Salim Khan has stated in a recent interview with ABP that an apology is out of the question, as it would imply that Salman admits to committing a crime.
