A tragic accident involving luxury cars occurred late last night in Thane, near Mumbai, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old man. The victim, identified as Darshan Hegde, was riding his two-wheeler when a speeding Mercedes struck him from behind. The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene, but the vehicle was later located in a paid parking area. Police have launched an investigation to identify the driver.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Mercedes was closely followed by a Thar SUV, both driving recklessly towards Mumbai when the collision happened. Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Salvi stated that the accident took place around 1:50 AM at the Nitin Company Junction. Darshan was taken to a hospital shortly after the crash but succumbed to his injuries about 15 minutes later.

The police have registered a case at Nuapada police station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to rash driving and causing death due to negligence, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Inspector Salvi mentioned that two teams are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and checking RTO records to track down the driver.

An eyewitness recounted hearing a loud crash around 2 AM and witnessing the Mercedes hit the two-wheeler. He helped rush Darshan to the hospital but was devastated to see him die shortly afterward. The witness confirmed that neither the Mercedes nor the Thar stopped after the accident; both vehicles continued driving at high speed.
