Her remarks come in the wake of widespread outrage over the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, along with numerous other disturbing cases of sexual violence against young girls in various parts of the country.

“The recent spate of rapes, murders, and suicides, particularly involving innocent girls and women, in places like Bengal, Badlapur in Maharashtra, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, Agra, and Farrukhabad districts, is profoundly distressing,” the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated on X.

She made a powerful call to both the Central and state governments, urging them to transcend political rivalries and implement stringent measures to put an end to these heinous acts. “Now is not the time for politics; it is a time for action in the interest of protecting our women,” she emphasized.
