OpenAI has introduced a groundbreaking feature to ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to respond audibly in five distinct voices. This innovative capability is now accessible through ChatGPT’s web, iOS, and Android applications, having been unveiled earlier this month.
The new read aloud feature of ChatGPT caters particularly to users who prefer audio responses, especially beneficial for those on the move. Notably, the feature autonomously identifies the language of the conversation to deliver the appropriate output, supporting 37 different languages. Moreover, users can customize ChatGPT to consistently provide verbal responses to messages.
What sets the new read aloud feature of ChatGPT apart is its inclusivity; it is not limited to premium users but is available to all GPT 3.5 users at no extra cost.
OpenAI provided insights into the functionality of ChatGPT’s new feature, stating, “ChatGPT can now read responses to you. On iOS or Android, tap and hold the message and then tap ‘Read Aloud’. We’ve also started rolling out on the web – click the ‘Read Aloud’ button below the message.”
A dedicated Read Aloud player appears at the top of the screen, offering users control to play, pause, fast forward, or rewind the verbal responses from ChatGPT according to their preferences.
