Afghanistan has declared its team for a three-match T20I series in India. The squad for the IND vs AFG series, led by Ibrahim Zadran, features experienced players like Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, and Gulbadin Naib. This marks Afghanistan’s first time sending a team to India for a bilateral T20I series. Due to recovering from a back injury, Rashid Khan, the regular captain, won’t lead; instead, Zadran will take charge.
The Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, expressed confidence in Afghanistan’s improved performance, stating they are no longer considered underdogs. Zadran previously led Afghanistan to a 2-1 victory against UAE in a T20I series. The squad includes Mujeeb Ur Rahman for a strong spin attack, and Ibrahim Alikhil is the backup wicketkeeper. The pace attack comprises Naveen-Ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi, with IPL experience in India.
The T20I series against India is scheduled as follows:
Jan 11: 1st T20I in Mohali
Jan 14: 2nd T20I in Indore
Jan 17: 3rd T20I in Bengaluru
