The MCD Commissioner expressed sorrow over the unfortunate incident and mentioned, “We are dealing with the problem of illegally running coaching centers with poor safety measures in the national capital. The corporation will take action against all such institutions through a sealing drive. We have worked on multiple fronts. Firstly, we are demolishing the encroachments on both sides of the roads covering the stormwater drains, which were completely covered by people, causing waterlogging and even making it difficult to clear the silt from the drains. We have also launched an anti-encroachment drive to demolish illegal constructions in the area and reactivate these drains.”
